David Chuckie Jonsson was born on September 4, 1993, and his birthplace is Custom House, East London, England.

He grew up with his mother, a Metropolitan Police worker, in a single-parent family in the East London Docklands area of Newham. His father was an IT engineer. 

He is the youngest of four children; his siblings are an older brother and two older sisters who actively participated in raising him.

His family heritage is Creole, with ancestors from Nigeria and Sierra Leone in West Africa, the Caribbean, and Sweden. He was raised in a Christian family.

When he turned 16, he got a scholarship to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.

After finishing his studies in New York, at the age of 18, he became a member of the National Youth Theatre in London and also received a Warner Bros. scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) from where he graduated in 2016 with a BA in Acting.
