Upcoming Albums: 4 Nigerian Artistes Set To Drop Music Albums Soon

See Four Other Nigerian Artistes Set To Drop An Album This Year

The Nigerian music industry has been blessed with creative albums in 2024. Most of the albums released by these artistes have gone on to break old records and set new records. In fact, the “new cats” are the ones responsible for shattering most of these records.

However, the “old cats”, seemed laid back, waiting for the right time to drop their albums. If you’re in anticipation of an album for your favorite artistes, then this is the right page to be at.

This is because, in this article, you’ll be getting a full gist of what to expect from Nigerian artistes who are yet to release their albums in 2024. This article promises to be interesting, let’s get started!

1. Wizkid — Morayo

Wizkid should top the list of artistes who are expected to drop an album this year. Prior to the death of his mother, Mrs. Balogun, Wizkid was set to drop an already-finished album according to the reports. However, with the news of the passing of his mother, Wizkid and his team had to change the album plans including the title, and songs in it.

At the moment, Wizkid is expected to release an album that is expected to majorly touch on his feelings about the death of his late mother.

On his Twitter page, Wizkid has teased the album on several occasions. He claims that it is the best album he has ever made. Wizkid revealed on his Twitter page that the album is going to make history surpassing the achievements of his most commercially successful album, Made In Lagos.

Many music experts have predicted the songs of the album to have a slower pace than the predominant sounds. Songs such as “IDK”, “MMS”, and other recent songs that Wizkid has featured in have been used as a case study for this conclusion.

2. Fireboy — Adedamola

Fireboy also joins among top Nigerian artistes expected to release an album this year. The album is set to be released later this year. According to YBNL boss, Olamide, the Fireboy’s album would be released after the release of “Ikigai” and “Lungu Boy” body of works.

So, it is safe to say that the work on this album is complete and time is the remaining piece needed to complete the puzzle. The album title, Adedamola, suggests that there may be few contributions of other artistes on the album.

According to Fireboy, the Adedamola project would be a combination of his last two projects. Fireboy intends to give his listeners a feel of the old Fireboy without losing touch with the new Fireboy sound.

The Adedamola album features tracks such as “Everyday” and “Obaa Sima”. In those two songs, there’s a deliberate action by Fireboy to make the listeners dance while dishing out nice lyrics.

Something that’s lacking in today’s Afrobeats sound. If you’re big on top lyrics and melodic groove, then you shouldn’t miss listening to the Adedamola album by Fireboy when it is released.

3. Burna Boy — No Sign Of Weakness

Burna Boy is expected to drop an album this year too. As revealed by Burna Boy on his Twitter page, the title of his album is No Sign Of Weakness. The album name suggests that Burna Boy would continue from where he left off from the I Told Them album.

So, it is expected that he will drop an album that appeals to both his local fanbase and to the international audience. However, it would not be a surprise if the album is shaped majorly towards the international audience.

It is rumored that Burna Boy would be releasing a no-featured artiste album. This means that he may likely drop a solo album featuring songs made by himself only. In one of the videos featured on his social media pages, Burna Boy released a video snippet of one of the songs expected to be on the No Sign Of Weakness album.

The song titled, “Empty Chairs” speaks about the fact that his enemies can no longer be found in the streets instead they are found online looking for evidence of empty seats at his shows.

He further speaks about his struggle for fame and other challenges faced on his journey. All in all, just expect an excellent album from the African Giant himself.

4. Omah Lay — Clarity Of Mind

Omah Lay yet-to-be-released album ranks high among the highly anticipated albums in 2024. Omah Lay has left his fanbase and me to thirst for a body of work for quite a while now. To make matters worse, he has refused to release any song so far in 2024.

The reasons are likely due to the record label calendar schedule. However, he has been featured in songs like “Dealer”, and “One Call” among others. In July 2024, Omah Lay mentioned that he would be releasing an album titled, Clarity Of Mind.

The album name suggests that Omah Lay might likely take the pattern of his first-ever project. It is expected that he infuses his unique style, a style which is fondly called, “Afro Depression“. According to most of his fans, the style should be adopted as the main sound in the Clarity Of Mind album.

On Twitter and other social media platforms, they have warned that if he decides to play a fast one by switching sounds, he may be left to suffer the repercussion — low streaming numbers.

Well, whether Omah Lay decides to go with his “Afro Depression” style or not on his new album, his listeners should expect nothing short of top-notch music — something that Boy Alone never misses.
