Egungun of Lagos Early Life

Kuye Oghenevwede Adegoke, also known as Egungun, was born in Lagos State, Nigeria. He was born on the 5th of March 1995.

He was raised in a culturally mixed home. His father hailed from Ondo State while his mother is from Delta State. Egungun’s father was a pastor. 

However, Egungun of Lagos didn’t have it easy while growing up. His dad did not buy the idea of being a content creator. You’ll be surprised how Egungun convinced his father about being a content creator later in this article.

Egungun of Lagos attended the prestigious Royfield Junior School. Later, he joined Lagos State Model School to complete his secondary school.

Later, he furthered his education at the prestigious University of Lagos. Egungun eventually graduated from the Department of Biology Education.

Egungun of Lagos is one of the most hardworking content creators in the entertainment industry in Nigeria. However, before he became a creator, he faced some challenges along the way.

After graduating from the University of Lagos, Egungun ventured into dancing. Before graduating, Egungun already had a passion for dancing. To make things easier for him, he was already known as a dancer at the University.

So, it was not hard to predict that he would take this path. However, he was not getting enough money and fame at the time. Then, he restrategized and made his dancing more fun to watch.

This time he made videos with the famous masquerade (Egungun) costume in Lagos. This was where he got his stage name “Egungun”.

As you would expect, this antics made him popular in Lagos mainland. How long would he continue dancing in a masquerade costume?

Egungun later evolved in his content creation. He started by interviewing fishermen and fish vendors in the riverine areas of Lagos. 

Of course, this style of content was very unique and was the first of its kind in Lagos. He even went viral on different occasions after posting this content.

On one occasion, Egungun of Lagos was in the middle of a sea while taking pictures of a fish he was holding. In a bid to throw the fish into the water (sea) back, he mistakenly threw his phone into the water.

This video attracted a lot of engagement from netizens. Unfortunately, after that video, his Instagram account was taken down.

Thankfully, when he opened a new account his followers count grew once more. In addition, he was reposted by celebrity blogger, Tunde Ednut. He was also supported by the Gossip Mill Nigeria blog. Surprisingly, American rapper, Snoop Dogg also reposted his content to his fanbase. 

In 2023, Egungun evolved into a full-time interviewer. He gets to ask random people questions majorly about their lifestyle and job. Egungun makes sure to ask for their consent before making the videos.

According to him, before he approaches a person for questions, he tries to get consent before doing so. So far, Egungun has interviewed different celebrities in Nigeria such as Benson, Burna Boy, Zlatan, Pino Vibes, and Peller.  He has also volunteered in different philanthropic activities.

Egungun of Lagos Net Worth 

Egungun net worth is estimated to be $300,000. He makes most of his money from Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and Facebook.

However, he also receives revenue from sponsorship and advertisements on his pages. So you can tell he earns a very good amount of money influencing brands too.

Egungun has two houses in Lagos. He acquired a five-bedroom house in Lagos in 2021. Egungun also has a duplex mansion where he lives with his fiancee. 

Egungun is a lover of cars. He has many cars in his collection. Recently, Egungun acquired a Lamborghini sports car. He also has a Mercedes Benz GLE 300 in his collection. Amongst others, he is in a partnership with M J Autos Motors.

Egungun of Lagos is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Pashotah. He got engaged to Pashotah in May 2024. She is a content creator and lifestyle influencer. 

Pashotah has no problem with the kind of content Egungun posts. According to Egungun, she edits most of his videos. Pashotah perfectly understands the content creation industry.

Egungun of Lagos faced some challenges while engaging in his content creation.

• First, his father didn’t support the idea of being a content creator. This was because it was not in line with the status of being a pastor’s son. However, he later gained the approval of his father.
• Second, some critics often refer to his content as being “indecent”. However, he has clarified severally that one can learn vital lessons from his videos. It is also important to note that not all his videos are indecent. 
• While interviewing people on the streets, he encounters street touts obstructing his videos. Regardless of this, Egungun settles them whenever he can.
